In Memorial: These special radio broadcast features aired in rotation every hour on Sirius Satellite Radio, Horizons, Stream 99, in honor and memorial of Babatunde Olatunji who passed away in April of this year. The features ran every hour on the hour from 6:00AM in the morning, June 7th, around the clock until midnight June 9th, and ran as introduction to tracks chosen from the remastered Drums of Passion; Drums of Passion: The Invocation; Love Drum Talk; and Drums of Passion: The Beat. I am sorry I didn't know Baba, as I came to this Circle of Life perhaps a little late, but in this way, given where I was in space and time, this was the best I could do in my role as a World music producer and broadcaster, curator, and in best efforts as one who new the power of what this amazing spirit and individual had achieved. Had I known him, I know these features would have been done differently. In drumming at Spirit Hawk's Ritual Bonfire last night near Middletown in the mountains, thanks to Andre and Elisa, we all paid greatest memorial respects to Baba, and I guess in my own way, I can say that maybe I finally had been able to drum with Baba, in Spirit, with some of Baba's very closest family. I think in many ways, Baba was there... I went to Elisa afterwards, and said "I guess I never knew him, but I feel in so many ways, that he is here... he must be..." and she replied "he has to be, because this is what he would have wanted anyway - all of us drumming and doing this act of great love... drumming... Perhaps you didn't get a chance to hear these as they were broadcast on Sirius... the World Music channel that I program for that company.. I've listed these for you now to listen to, or to take freely if you so desire. A left click should let you listen and a right click should allow you to save the Mp3s to your computer. They will not be here too long, as I am only letting people who knew Baba or carry his light get a chance to have a record of this broadcast endeavor, perhaps in memorial, perhaps as running record, and as a way to help in the sharing of community that Baba fostered...
